IAL Admissions

Thank you for your interest in the Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership program!

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2024-2025 cohort.

Applications for the 2025-2026 cohort will open on August 1st, 2024!

All completed applications submitted before the priority deadline (January 3, 2025) will be guaranteed an admissions interview.

 

Pre-Requisites for the IAL Program

Applicants to the IAL M.Ed. programs should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by the time they enter the IAL program.
  • Have at least one year of experience within an athletics setting, as an athlete, coach, volunteer, or intern.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the intercollegiate athletics setting and issues and challenges present in the industry.

Admissions Checklist

  • Transcript
    • Applicants need to upload an unofficial transcript as part of their online application
  • Resume
    • On your resume, detail your experience within athletics and education.
  • Letters of Recommendation
    • You need three individuals to write your letters of recommendation.
  • Statement of Purpose
    • The statement of purpose should be 2-4 pages double spaced and should answer what your goals are.
  • Writing Sample
    • This should be something that shows your ability to write analytically at a graduate level.

 

 

Admissions Timeline

Our admissions timeline for the 2025* cohort is as follows:

  • Early August 2024 – Application for the 2025-2026 cohort opens
  • Early January 2025 – Priority application deadline**
  • Late January 2025 – Initial Admissions Committee review
  • March & April 2025 – Zoom Interviews for selected candidates
  • Late March 2025 – All candidates receive notification of admissions decision

*(2025-2026 school year. The IAL program has a mid-June 2025 start)

 

**Priority Deadline Note: We will continue to accept applications on a space-available basis throughout the spring until our cohort has been filled. We admit between 40-50 students each year.  If you are interested in submitting an application after the priority deadline, please contact us regarding space availability.

 

Note for International Students: The IAL Program is unable to accept international applicants (including Canadians) requiring an F-1 or J-1 student visa. Applicants with a valid US work visa are eligible to apply to the program. Submit official TOEFL scores to UW at code 4854.
