ASHE PRE-CONFERENCE FORUM ON COLLEGE ATHLETICS

In 2022, college athletics underwent a significant change in athlete rights. Propelled by a wave of state laws, universities and the main governing body of intercollegiate sports—the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)—were no longer able to restrict college athletes’ rights to their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL).

RESEARCH:

Centering the Female Athlete Voice in a Sports Science Research Agenda

The UW CLA along with researchers from Stanford, Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, led the first study to co-create a research agenda with Team USA elite female athletes. Their work lays the groundwork for future research and offers key insights into female athletes’ unique needs.
