The CLA provides and engages in programming to support women in all stages of their coaching journey. We believe sport provides one of the biggest platforms in the world to change conceptions of what leadership is and who can lead. With only 1 and 4 coaches in King County being women (State of Play, 2019), our goal is to get more women into the coaching game and support those that are already there. Our activities and offerings are always changing, but check below to see what’s on tap. It’s time to bet on women!
Women in Coaching
CoachUp! Washington – Game Changers Initiative
The Game Changers Initiative (GCI) was a one-year experience designed to support women in the early stages of their coaching journey. GCI aimed to connect communities of female coaches across Washington State through professional development, mentorship and training. GCI was part of CoachUp! Washington, a collaborative project between the WIAA and UW Center for Leadership in Athletics that brought social-emotional learning curriculum to school-based coaches across the state.
WE ARE GAME CHANGERS
Launched in 2018, the “We are Game Changers” series has served as a convening space to address issues unique to women coaches. The workshops provide professional development sessions and an opportunity to connect and network with fellow Pacific Northwest coaches.
