The UW Center for Leadership in Athletics (UW CLA) partnered with the King County Play Equity Coalition to organize Our Space in Sport 2025, a free, one-day conference designed to empower high school girls and non-binary athletes with the knowledge they need to thrive. Dr. Julie McCleery, Sam Brown, and Jake Silver from UW CLA dedicated months to organizing the event, creating an impactful experience for high school athletes in King County.
This year’s workshop topics included nutrition, leadership, physiology, mental skills training, advocacy, and inclusion. Additionally, we hosted a parallel coach track, encouraging women and non-binary coaches to register and learn more about supporting female and non-binary student-athletes
