All applicants should upload an unofficial transcript as part of their online application.  If you are eventually admitted to the program, you will be asked to send an official transcript to The Graduate School; further instructions will be provided to admitted applicants.  Students with a UW undergraduate degree are exempt from submitting an official transcript, as their documentation is already on file with the University.
Your resume should detail your experience within athletics and education, as well as any additional relevant experiences that you would like the Admissions Committee to be aware of.
You will need to select three individuals to write your letters of recommendation. Appropriate recommenders could be, but are not limited to: professionals within athletics or education, job supervisors, or faculty members. These individuals should be able to attest to your leadership potential and ability to succeed within intercollegiate athletics.

As you complete the UW Graduate School online application (see the ‘Starting Your Application’ section on the 'Admissions Timeline' tab to the left), you will be asked to enter the name and contact information, including email address, for your references.  An automatic email will be generated to these individuals, who will receive a link where they can upload their letter of recommendation. All letters should be submitted online through this mechanism.
For IAL-Coaching applicants:  One letter must be from a current coach who has knowledge of your coaching ability and is in a position to provide ongoing support as you build your coaching skills.  Ideally, you are planning to work with this coach for the year you are in the IAL program.
Your goal statement should be 2-4 pages in length (double-spaced) and answer some of the following questions:

IAL-Administration applicants...
  1. What are your career goals within athletics?  And which department(s) are of interest to you?
  2. Why is the IAL program right for you?
  3. Why are you right for the IAL program? What can you uniquely contribute to an IAL cohort?
  4. How do you plan to leverage the IAL program to achieve your career goals?
  5. How have you prepared yourself for a career within intercollegiate athletics?

IAL-Coaching applicants...
  1. Briefly describe your coaching philosophy.
  2.  Describe your current plans related to where you will be coaching during the IAL program.
  3. What are your career goals related to coaching?
  4. Why is the IAL program right for you?
  5. Why are you right for the IAL program? What can you uniquely contribute to an IAL cohort?
You should submit something you've worked on in an undergraduate class or a product from work that shows your ability to write analytically at a graduate level. This piece should be academic in nature; you will want to avoid items like a financial statement, marketing piece, or lab report. There is no page minimum or maximum, nor does the writing piece have to be on a specific topic.

Note: The College of Education will not require the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) for the 2021 admission cycle. This applies for all graduate program applications for 2021.  All applicants have the option to self-report GRE scores within the application, if desired.
